This fix prevents authentication prompts from appearing when accessing WebDav content even though you are already authenticated to SharePoint (for example, when accessing Microsoft Office documents or viewing files and folders via Windows Explorer).
There are two ways you can apply this fix (both require a restart of the WebClient service, see note below):
- If your SharePoint application is on the greencloud.com.au domain, simply extract and run this registry fix: AuthForwardServerList.zip
- If your SharePoint application is on your own domain, follow these steps:
- Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
- Type AuthForwardServerList, and then press ENTER.
- On the Edit menu, click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type the URL of the server that hosts the Web share, and then click OK (for example, sharepoint.yourcompany.com.au).
- Exit Registry Editor.
Note: You have to restart the WebClient service after you modify the registry: Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> select WebClient and click Restart. Also restart Internet Explorer if it is open.
This fix is taken from the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: KB943280

Tabbed browsing offers a clean way to organise the windows that you work with on your computer. As most of our services work in the browser, configuring Internet Explorer tabs as per the instructions below will ensure you keep related work in the same browser window:
- Within Internet Explorer, go to Internet Options (i.e. Tools -> Internet Options).
- On the General tab, click the Settings button in the Tabs section.

- Select "Always open pop-ups in a new tab" (yellow highlight in the below screenshot) under the When a pop-up is encountered section.

- Click the OK button, then click the OK button again. New windows / pop-ups should now appear within the same Internet Explorer window.
